This is best known as a soft corn. It is one of the most painful calluses affecting the area in between two digits usually the 4th and 5th.The corn is formed due to the excessive rubbing of the two digits. This rubbing causes a boney overgrowth or exostosis, which leads to the formation of the corn. It is called a “soft corn", because it is in an interdigital area which is moist.
Permanent and painless correction of this callous is achieved through a minimal incision exostectomy. The toe is anesthetized using a “needle free” transdermal injector with local anesthetic. A tiny one millimeter incision is made near the deformity and taken down to the bone surface. The exostosis is then reduced by rasping until it is gone. The incision is the closed with a single suture. The patient is able to walk immediately and pain free with a light bandage.
The cost for the procedure including all post operative visits is $250.00.
